Our history

1966: Foundation of the company Sani Métal Ltd, now known as SML Stainless Steel Group.

1985: Acquisition of Sani Métal by Michel Pelletier and its shareholders. This company, specialized in the manufacturing of commercial kitchens, has successfully expanded its field of activity over time into three main categories: Industrial Division, High-end Kitchens, and Custom Design.

2004: Change in leadership, SML becomes a family-owned business.

2008: Development of a new product: tanks for the wine industry. The brand La Garde is born.

2009: First contract for 2 stackable tanks for a Quebec client.

2012: Production of the first tanks with variable capacity.

2014: Production and installation of 60 tanks with a capacity of 22,700 liters (6,000 US gallons) in California.

2018: New generation, Simon Pelletier is appointed President of SML.

2020: La Garde Inox adopts a new image.

2023: Addition of Bucher Vaslin North America as a distributor of La Garde Inox products.
